Jesup-Wilford Thomas Blanton, 91, passed away Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at the Golden Living Center in Jesup. He was a member of the Jesup Church of God. He was a U. S. Army WWII veteran serving in Calcutta, India. He worked with ITT Rayonier, Inc. for 29 years. In his early retirement years, Mr. Blanton enjoyed fishing, camping and going to Bluegrass Festival Sings. His wife, Eloise Poppell Blanton, his parents, Mary Nell and Sidney Blanton, his sister Neely Bennett and his brother Sidney Blanton, Jr., preceded Mr. Blanton in death.

Survivors include his daughter, Fredia and Freddy Aspinwall of Jesup; two sons, Kenneth and Joy Blanton of Cleveland, TN, Ricky and Cindy Blanton of Jesup; six grandchildren, Fran and Cle Baker of Brunswick, Forrest Aspinwall of Charleston, SC, Chris Blanton and Jayla Blanton of Cleveland, TN, Hamp and Page Blanton of Jesup and Tyler Blanton of Jesup; four great grandchildren, Reece and Ridge Baker of Brunswick and Rowan and Ramsey Blanton of Jesup; two brothers, Willie S. Blanton of Jesup and Ronald Blanton of Augusta; three sisters, Lois Tucker of Augusta, Annett and Joe Newhaus of Atlanta and Nell and Ray Shell of Augusta.

Visitation will be Thursday, September 13, 2012 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Howard and Jones Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be Friday, September 14, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Jesup Church of God with Reverend David Price and Reverend James Edmondson officiating.

Active pallbearers will be grandsons and Blanton nephews.

Honorary pallbearers will be nieces, nephews, members of the Anita Ricketson Sunday School Class and the staff of Golden Living Center.
