Jesup– The Honorable Raymond S. Gordon, 74, passed away Sunday, September 2, 2012, in the Wayne Memorial Hospital under the care of Hospice of South Georgia. He was born in Odum, GA. The passing of Raymond S. Gordon, State Court Judge of Wayne County, GA, for thirty-two years and private practice attorney for thirty-eight years, brings to an end his service to the community.

Ray was a Judge of honesty, integrity and character. He was a sweet and gentle husband, father, and “granddaddy” who spread love and understanding to all he knew. He enjoyed fishing, jet skiing and spending time with family and friends. May he rest in eternal peace.

His father, Raymond S. Gordon, Sr., and his mother, Marjorie Campbell Gordon, both of Long County, GA, preceded him in death.

He leaves behind a wife, Elouise Wingate Gordon, of Jesup; a son, Raymond Anthony “Tony” Gordon and wife Cheryl of Jesup; two brothers, Larry Gordon of Sylvania, GA and Melvin Nelson Gordon of Tybee Island, GA; three grandchildren, Ashley L. Chaney of Savannah, GA, Toni Lynn Herring and husband Trent of Augusta, GA, and Amber N. Gordon of Jesup, GA; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 5 at 2:00 P.M. from the First Baptist Church of Ludowici, GA, with Rev. J. Eric Rentz officiating. Burial will follow at the Baggs Cemetery in Long County.

Visitation will be Tuesday, September 4 from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., at the Howard & Jones Funeral Home.

Active pallbearers will be Zane Wasdin, Wyman Gordon, Mike Wingate, Bill Wingate, Kerry Wingate, Stephen Wingate, Danny Wingate and Robbie Wingate.

Honorary pallbearers will be all Judges and Court personnel in the Wayne County Court system; all past and present members of the Jesup Bar Association; and all law enforcement personnel in Wayne County.
