Jesup –Alice C. Lane, 74 passed away Saturday evening, August 11 in the Wayne Memorial Hospital under the care of Hospice of South Georgia.  She was a native of Wayne County and had lived most of her life in Jesup.  She was a seamstress for Manhattan Shirt Company until becoming a homemaker.  She wrote the Odum News for the Press-Sentinel and volunteered with the Wayne Memorial Hospital Auxiliary for many years.  She was a charter member of the Odum Church of God where she had previously served as pianist.  Her husband, Jim Lane, her siblings, Willie and Dorothy, and her nephew, Randy Yarbrough preceded her in death.

Survivors are one sister, Lillian Yarbrough; a niece, Penny Mostyn, great niece, Michele Cook, and great nephew, Charles Register, all of Tallahassee, FL, and several cousins, including Ela Belle Anderson, Kay Ogden, and Larry Madray all of Jesup, and Ray Madray of New Bern, NC.

In accordance with her wishes, there will be a simple graveside service on Tuesday, August 14 at 10:00 A.M. from the Odum City Cemetery with Rev. Kevin Dawson officiating.

The family wishes to thank Alice’s friend, Mary Stanfield for her care and devotion to her, and Hospice of South Georgia for their tremendous service and care for Alice, especially to Brandi White.  Alice requested no flowers but remembrances are suggested to Hospice of South Georgia, 1625 Sunset Blvd. Jesup, GA 31545.
