William Robert “Bob” Dart, Jr., 84, passed away on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at Harborview Health Systems under the care of Hospice of South Georgia.
Robert was born on September 16, 1933 in Jesup to the late Annie Laurie and William Robert Dart, Sr. He served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. Later Robert worked as an automotive front end alignment technician for several different car dealerships where he earned the reputation of being one of the best around. He was a hard worker and a loving and devoted husband, father and brother. In his spare time, Robert enjoyed hunting, fishing and making knives and was a long time member of Old Bethel Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, his wife of sixty years, Edna Tuten Dart, and his brother, Thomas J. Dart, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his two sons and daughters-in-law, Edgar and Kathleen Dart and Robert and Cheryl Dart all of Jesup; three brothers, George Dart, Joe Dart and Gerri and Walter Dart and wife, Carolyn all of Jesup; one sister, Pauline Dart of Jesup and two grandchildren, William Dart and wife, Meggan of Hortense and Kayla Dart of Jesup. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members also survive.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 8, 2018 at Howard & Jones Funeral Home in Jesup with Reverends Stanley Todd and Ron Wilcox officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.
Interment will follow in George Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Jeff Horton, Greg Bullman, Kenny Brannen, Mitch Beverly, Michael Taylor and Don Leggett.
