Cowan_SeabornSeaborn Eugene “Seabo” Cowan, passed away on Tuesday, November 12, 2013 at home under the care of Hospice of South Georgia.

Seabo was born on March 16, 1935 in Armuchee, Georgia to the late Roy W. and Lula Mae Cowan.  He spent his early years there and was a graduate of Armuchee High School. He served his country in the United States Navy before relocating to Jesup in the mid 1950’s.  Seabo worked for a short time at Rayonier and then for Interstate Paper from which he retired with over thirty years of service.  An avid Atlanta Braves fan, Seabo loved watching sports of all kinds, particularly when his beloved grandchildren were participating.  He was a member of Antioch Missionary Baptist church and will certainly be remembered for his love of humor.  Seabo truly loved a good joke and was always willing to share them with his family and friends.  In addition to his parents, his wife of forty-six years, Annex Cowan, preceded him in death as well as his brothers, Ed and Joe and sisters, Catherine and Martha.

Survivors include his son, Joey Cowan and wife, Christi of Tifton; daughter, Brenda C. Lewis and husband, Herman, Jr. of Jesup; two grandchildren, Carlton Cowan of Tifton and Garrett Lewis of Jesup and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 15, 2013 at Howard & Jones Funeral Home with Reverends Stanley Todd and Vernon Eckleberry officiating. 

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. 

Interment will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Bill Cowan, John Benner, Jeff Jones, David Steese, Greg Jones and Kevin Sharpe.

Honorary pallbearers will be former Co Workers at Interstate Paper and staff members of Hospice of South Georgia.
