Myron Caule Crider of Hortense, GA, passed away on May 21, 2016, after a lengthy, heroic battle with cancer. Myron was born June 26, 1942 in Chicago, IL, the son of the late Caule and Clara Crider. He is survived by his wife Joy Crider; his daughter Claire Crider-Jackson; his brother Richard Crider; his stepdaughter Cassandra Hatcher, his stepson Marty Hatcher. In addition to his mother and father, Myron was preceded in death by his son Todd, by his brother Robert, and by his stepson David.
Myron grew up in Willacoochee, GA. He graduated from Atkinson County High School in 1960 and attended the University of Georgia, graduating in 1964 with a degree in microbiology. In his professional career, Myron worked for the CDC, the FDA, and private companies in Minnesota, Arkansas, Florida, and Georgia. He and Joy settled in Hortense after retirement in 2006. Myron was an avid square dance enthusiast, calling square dances across the Southeast and starting a dance club with Joy in Waverly, GA. He was a craftsman and carpenter and enjoyed working on projects in the workshop he built, when he wasn’t fishing. He and Joy attended the United Methodist Church in Nahunta. Myron loved his family, his hobbies, and life. He leaves a void in the lives of all who knew and loved him, a void that can be filled only by the knowledge that he has gone to be with those who have gone before and with our Lord.
