Mike Hatch Obituary

Shellman Bluff- Mike Hatch, 65, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at home under the care of Heartland Hospice surrounded by his loving family.

A resident of Shellman Bluff for over thirty years, Mike was born in Nashua, New Hampshire on September 21, 1950 to the late Simon and Dorothy Hatch. He spent his early years in Jacksonville, Florida before joining the United States Marine Corps where he faithfully served his country and was wounded during the Viet Nam Conflict. After settling in Shellman Bluff, Mike worked as a commercial fisherman and also owned and operated Signs and More for many years. Fishing was his greatest passion but Mike also enjoyed hunting and painting. His selfless nature led him into a life of service for others and he always put the needs of his family and friends before his own. Scores of children benefited from the baseball teams he coached and his light hearted practical jokes kept those around him laughing at all times. Mike also loved animals and was a die hard Florida Gators and Atlanta Braves fan.

In addition to his parents, his brother, John Hatch, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Sherry Hatch of Shellman Bluff; three daughters, Stacy Wright and husband, Damian of Navarre Beach, FL, Mandi Hatch of Yulee, FL and Melissa Hatch and fiancé, Charles McCormick of Brunswick; one son, Joshua Hatch and wife, Jessica of San Antonio, TX; one brother Richard Hatch and five grandchildren. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Memorial services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 16, 2016 at Morgan’s Chapel United Methodist Church with Reverends Danny Stilwell and Randall LaRoche officiating.

Interment will be private.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. James Allen Meadows, Danny Thomas, Ricky Boone, Jr., Simon Younce, Clark LaRoche, Nicholas Deverger, Jodee Middleton, Jason Howard, Joey Corlett and Joshua Hatch.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Heartland Hospice, 117 Drennan Drive, Jesup, GA 31545.
