Mary Lou Ellis passed away on Friday, April 18, 2014 at home under the care of Heartland Hospice.
Mary Lou was born on March 21, 1932, in Birmingham, Alabama to the late John Henry and Rosa Lolies and has lived in Jesup for most of her life. She was a homemaker and had attended House of Worship and Ministries, Westside Church of God, and most recently NewBeginningChurch. She loved vegetable and flower gardening, fishing, and cooking. Her family members all enjoyed her great cooking. Her husband, James L. Ellis, and her daughters, Geraldine Bryant and Gladys Taylor preceded her in death.
She is survived by five sons and daughters-in-law, Kenny and Trish Bryant of Claxton, Charles and Darlene Bryant, Ricky and Pearl Bryant of Jesup, Marvin and Brenda Bryant of Gallipolis, Ohio, and Michael and Alona Ellis of Columbus, Ohio; six daughters and sons-in-law, Marilyn Bryant and Mickey Carter, Sybil and Roger Harris of Jesup, Glanda and Willis Vickery and LaWanda Bryant of Macon, Patricia Ann Wray of Gallipolis, Ohio, and Martha and John NeSmith of Metter. Numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 in the Chapel of Howard & Jones Funeral Home with Reverends Michael Wilder and Albert Dyal officiating. Visitation will be held on Monday, April 21, 2014, from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Active pallbearers will be Michael Blocker, Charles Bryant, Jr., Kenny Bryant, Ricky Bryant, Kevin Cole, and Phillip Thompson.
Honorary pallbearers are Andy Blocker, Kevin May, Sr., Raiford Moseley, Shannon Roberts, David Woods, and staffs of Heartland Hospice and Amicita Home Health.
Interment will be at Spring Grove Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery.
