Juanita Maria Taylor, 71, passed away on Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at home surrounded by her loving family under the care of Hospice of the Golden Isles.
Juanita was born on December 16, 1943 in Alma, Georgia to the late Carrie Lou and Purdie Jackson Cothren. A former resident of Brunswick, Juanita spent most of her life in Hortense where she was a very active member of the Hortense Holiness Church for many years. She was a homemaker who cherished every moment she spent with her family. Juanita also loved her chickens and goats and enjoyed fishing and shopping in her spare time.
In addition to her parents, her sisters, Mary Latrelle Cothren, Yvonne Thompson and Bonnie Lou Taylor as well as her brothers, Howard Jay Cothren, Tony Wayne Cothren and Leland Harvey Cothren also preceded her in death.
Survivors include her husband of fifty-one years, Bennie Watson Taylor of Hortense; one son and daughter-in-law, Ricky and Rhonda Thomas of Hortense; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Linton and Audrey Faye Spell of Alma, James and Willene Cothren of Brunswick and Lamon Cothren of Alma; four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Emelyn West of Brunswick, Eloise Carruth of Nichols, Freda and Gary Cooper of Alma and Marie and Ronnie Boatright of Alma; one grandson and his wife, Aaron and Meghan Thomas of Brunswick; one granddaughter and her husband, Alisha and Robert Middleton of Hortense; one great granddaughter, Raelyn Middleton and her beloved Boston Terrier, Pudge. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members also survive.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at Howard & Jones Funeral Home in Jesup.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 19, 2015 at the Hortense Holiness Church with Rev. Sammy Spradley officiating.
Active pallbearers will be Eric Wrinn, Jamie Wrinn, Chad Toler, Adam Cothren, Dalton Boatright and Scotty Boatright.
Interment will follow in The Satilla Cemetery.
The family would like to express a special thanks to the Staff of Hospice of the Golden Isles and an extra special thanks to the staff in CCU at Southeast Georgia Health System, Brunswick Campus for the loving care given to Juanita during her final days.
