A lifelong resident of Wayne County, John was born in Jesup on September 8, 1948 to the late John, Sr. and Doris Palmer Landon. He worked in the auto parts business for over forty years before retiring from Brooks Auto Parts. John was owner of Bumper to Bumper Auto Parts for several years and had also worked for Billy Poppell, Walker Chevrolet, Jesup Auto Supply and Auto Sure. In his spare time, John enjoyed wood working, fishing and most recently had enjoyed watching American Pickers on television. In addition to his parents, his baby sister, Lorraine Landon preceded him in death.
Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Tony and Stacey Landon of Savannah and Wesley Landon of New Mexico; two daughters and sons-in-law, Terri and Kevin Brake and Tina and Myron Anderson all of Jesup; five sisters and brothers-in-law, Lois and Joe Dunn, Linda and Lamar McReady, Lucy and Marcus Driggers, Lori and Cotton Saxon and Loretta and Joey Hayes all of Jesup; one brother, James Landon of Savannah and six grandchildren, Heidi Wells and husband, Justin, Austin and Madison Brake, Nate and Emily Anderson and Zach Landon. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, September 6, 2013 at Howard & Jones Funeral Home.
Graveside funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 7, 2013 at Old Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Benji McReady officiating. Brothers-in-law and Nephews will serve as honorary pallbearers.
