Jim Bandy, 77, died Sunday, November 3, 2013 at home under the care of Hospice of South Georgia.

Jim was born on March 24, 1936 in Polk County, Tennessee to the late Hugh and Hazel Hinsley Bandy.  He served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict and was awarded the China Medal.  Retired from the chemical industry, Jim was involved in numerous civic organizations and was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.  In his spare time, Jim enjoyed working in his yard.   In addition to his parents, his brother, Maxwell Bandy preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife of thirty years, Jeneral Virginia Teston Bandy of Jesup; brother, Kenneth Bandy of Benton, TN; stepdaughter, Lee Ann Swanekamp and husband, Tom of Chapel Hill, NC; stepson and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Bond of Fort Pierce, FL and grandchildren, Joseph Swanekamp and Reed Bond, Stuart Bond, Trent Bond and Bethany Bond

Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, November 4, 2013 at Howard & Jones Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at Howard & Jones Funeral Home with Reverends Stanley Todd and Dwain Harper officiating. 

Interment will follow in Jesup City Cemetery with military honors.

Active pallbearers will be Ron Brooks, Paul Nugent, Peter Nugent, Myron Anderson, Terry Boulineau and Tom Swanekamp.  Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Liars Coffee Club.
