Harvey Stuckey Obituary

Harvey Stuckey, 92, passed away on Friday, January 24, 2014 at Golden Living Center under the care of Hospice of South Georgia.

Mr. Stuckey was born on September 26, 1921 in Eastman, Georgia to the late James and Artelia Stuckey. He served his country in the United States Army during WWII and was a longtime member of VFW Post 4583 in Jesup. Mr. Stuckey was in the radio and TV business for many years and had owned and operated Wayne TV Center. Later, he retired after teaching electronics at Wayne County High School for over twenty-two years. Mr. Stuckey was very involved in the affairs of his community and had been a member of the Jaycees, the Elks Club and the Exchange Club. He was also a very active member of the Jesup First United Methodist Church where he served on numerous committees and attended the Men’s Bible Class. In addition to his parents, his brother, Jimmy Stuckey; his sister, Wylene Kitchens and his sister-in-law, Doris Yarbrough preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife of sixty-six years, Lucy Stuckey; one son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Rhonda Stuckey; grandson Hunter Stuckey and granddaughter, London Stuckey all of Jesup and three sisters-in-law, Kathleen Hires Coody, Jackie Edelstein and Jane Moody. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, January 27, 2014 at Howard & Jones Funeral Home with Reverend Tucker Lewis officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.

Interment will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Jack Patton, Sandy Gorse, John NeSmith, Ronnie Hayes, and Van Hayes. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Liars Coffee Club.

Remembrances may be made to Jesup First United Methodist Church, 205 E. Cherry St. Jesup, GA 31546.
