Harold Windsor Obituary

Harold Windsor, 80, passed away Thursday, January 25, 2018 at home surrounded by his loving family.

Harold was born on November 17, 1937 in Staten Island, New York to the late Harry J. and Catherine Veronica Windsor. He spent his early years there and was a graduate of Ralph McKee Vocational High School in Staten Island. Harold served his country in the United States Navy for eight years, including two years of service in Morocco, South Africa, eventually ending up stationed at Naval Air Station Glynco. It was during his service at NAS Glynco that he met and married the love of his life, Betty Jean Leggett and the two relocated to Jesup in 1958. Harold was a brick mason by trade and was owner and operator of Windsor Construction for over fifty years. In addition, Harold also worked at Rayonier for twenty-two years. He was a member of Jesup Church of God for over fifty-three years where he served in various ministries. Harold was a member of the American Legion Post #311 and volunteered his time with the Boy Scouts and countless other organizations within the community. In his spare time, he enjoyed the beach and loved being in the sun. Harold also enjoyed studying the bible, baseball, and cherished spending time with his beloved family.

In addition to his parents, his son, Harold "Beany" Windsor, III, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife of fifty-nine years, Betty Jean Leggett Windsor of Jesup; children, Cathy Browning and husband, Judge Gary Browning of Jesup, Clint Windsor of Jesup and Carol Lynn Windsor of Alabama; three sisters, Lois Bertinelli of Staten Island, NY, Patricia Davenport and husband, Bob of Edgewater, FL and Joanne Caracci of Jesup; grandchildren Jered Browning and wife, Jennifer, Roni Moore and husband, Ray, Kurt Browning and wife, Tarna, Barret Browning and wife, Meah and eight great grandchildren, Andrew and Connor Browning, Cole and River Moore, Beckham and Palmer Browning, Boone Browning and soon to arrive, Tate Browning. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 28, 2018 at Jesup Church of God with Reverends Clayton Dowd and Hulet Smith officiating followed by the American Legion Post 311’s presentation of the United States Flag. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the church.

Interment will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Benji Strickland, Ronnie Hayes, Greg Tyre, Winton L. Westberry, Jr., Terry Duncan and Tony Griffis.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Brenda Madray Sunday School Class, Jesup Church of God Seniors, Ronnie and Mary Ellen Cooksey, Sissy Duncan, Jackie and Bobby Williford, Ray and Florence Lane, Buddy Roberson, Frankie and Preston Hope, Darryl Denison, Mike Kicklighter, Debbie Griffis and Skip Grantham.
