JESUP-Gwendolyn McQuaig Ward died Monday, October 8, 2012 in the Wayne Memorial Hospital after an extended illness. She was born in Waycross and had lived in Jesup since 1964. She retired from ITT Rayonier, Inc after 26 years of service. After retirement, she enjoyed traveling with Excursions Unlimited by both boat and bus. She also enjoyed camping, saltwater fishing and gardening. She was also an avid walker. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Jesup and the Dorcas Sunday School class and a member of the Ruby Riggins Camellia Garden Club. Her parents, Randall & Thelma McQuaig, her brother, Jack McQuaig, and infant grandson, Ralph W. Ward, III preceded her in death.

Survivors are her husband of 54 years, Ralph W. Ward, Sr. of Jesup; daughter, Lynn Beverly of Manor; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Ralph Ward, Jr. and John Ward and wife Phyllis, all of Jesup; grandchildren, Randall Beverly and Brandi O’Berry of Manor, and Wesley Ward and Adam Ward both of Jesup; great-grandchildren, Austin O’Berry and Callie O’Berry; her beloved poodle Joanie, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 10 at 2:00 P.M. at the Victory Methodist Church in Manor with Rev. W.D. Corbitt and Rev. Julian Ward officiating. The body will lie in state for one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 9 from 6-8 P.M. at the Howard & Jones Funeral Home.

Active pallbearers will be Adam Ward, Wesley Ward, Willis Bennett, Arnold Smith, Dwain Butler, and Mitchell Smith.
