G.L. was born in Blackshear, Georgia on December 24, 1944. A resident of Southeast Georgia for most of his life, G.L. lived in Blackshear, Waycross and Jesup and had even lived in Mansfield, Ohio for a short time where he worked as a police officer. He served his country in the United States Navy and had worked in many different trades over the years. G.L. was a supervisor with Fleetwood Mobile Homes and had been in the trucking business before his health forced retirement. He was a 32nd Degree Mason in the Blackshear Masonic Lodge # 207 and a member of the Waycross Shrine Club where he was “Bubba the Clown”. G.L. had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh. A ladies man at times, G.L. loved to play pranks on his family and friends. He also loved his 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air, listening to music and fishing. His father, George Lee, Jr. preceded him in death.
Survivors include his mother, Doris Lee of Jesup; son and daughter-in-law, David and Katrina Lee of Atlanta, Georgia; Brother Allan Lee of Jesup; sisters, Cheryl Thomas of Brunswick, Georgia and Carin Riley and husband Wayne of Jesup; nieces and nephews, Virginia Slone and husband Harry, Joshua Lee, George Lee Riswold, Brooke Riswold and Tabitha Riley all of Jesup and two great nieces, Alexia and Lillie Slone.
Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 26, 2014 at Howard & Jones Funeral Home with Reverends John Brown and Stanley Todd officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Interment will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Cemetery.
