Eloid Rentz Obituary

Eloid Rentz, 76, passed away on Thursday, September 10, 2015 at Wayne Memorial Hospital after a long illness.

Eloid was born on September 12, 1938 in Baxley to the late Henry and Suzie Mae Beecher Rentz. He spent his early years there before moving to Florida where he worked many years as a foreman for Alico Orange Groves Incorporated. After returning to South Georgia in 1992, Eloid moved to Screven where he was a member of Ritch Baptist Church. Eloid was extremely talented and patient when it came to working with his hands. He would devote as much time as it took to get the job done right. He also enjoyed fishing and working in his garden. In addition to his parents, his three brothers, James, Curtis and Henry Rentz preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife of fifty-five years, Maggie Carolyn Rentz of Screven; four children, Marie Fisher of Screven, Faith VanWert and husband, William of Jacksonville, FL, Samuel Rentz and wife, Jennifer of Lakes Wales, FL and Mary Rentz Kissimmee, FL; four sisters, Montene Burkett of Moultrie, GA, Betty McLoon of Tampa, FL, Maxine Williams of Hazlehurst and Angela Ouinn of Milan, GA and four brothers, Talmadge Rentz and wife, Rachael and Bobby Rentz and wife, Nancy all of Waynesville, GA, Cecil Rentz of Dublin and Thomas Edgar Jersey, Sr. of Waycross, GA. Six grandchildren, five great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members also survive.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, September 14, 2015 at Ritch Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverends Benji McReady and Mark Ledbetter officiating. The family will receive friends at their residence on Swamp Creek Road until the funeral hour on Monday.

Active pallbearers will be David VanWert, Samuel Rentz, Adam Fisher, Dallory Rozier, Seth Rentz and Franklin Dennison. Lonell Wright will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
