Edward Lee Obituary

Edward Lee, 84, of Gumbranch GA, left this world on Father’s Day, June 16th 2013 and entered the Kingdom of Heaven to meet his Heavenly Father.

He was born in TattnallCounty on June 3, 1929 to the late Emmett & Ella Elizabeth Wilson Lee. He is also preceded in death by his brothers, Eldridge Lee and Jerry Douglas Lee and by his great-grandson Conner Watford.

He is survived by Bessie Hardy Lee, his wife of 58 years, three children; Joy (Mike) Todd, Eddie (Nettie) Lee, Sherry (John) Watford, one niece; Lorie Lee Goarcke, nine grandchildren; Josh, Jamie, & Jeremy Todd; Sydney, Joey (Ashley), & Jacob Watford; J.T. & April Lee; and Ashley Witchell, four great-grandchildren; Kaydance & Brayden Todd, Chasity Holland, and Peyton Watford. He is also survived by many cousins.

He was a 25 year Mason at the 32nd degree Scottish Rite of Merritt Island, Fla. At the age of 40 he retired from Patrick Air Force Base in Cape Canaveral, Fla. as an Industrial Engineer. He also owned and operated the Island Oil Company in Merritt Island, Fla. for a number of years. He also owned Dixie Contractors and L&S Contracting. He was a deacon at Rye Patch Baptist Church and faithfully served his God as well as his church and its members.

Edward Lee was a hard-working man who was completely devoted to loving and providing for his family. He was a man who never met a stranger, and was always there to lend a helping hand, a friendly smile, and a word of advice to anyone who needed it. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, but most of all he loved to be surrounded by his family telling jokes and laughing. He will be greatly missed by all who loved and respected him.

Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at Howard & Jones Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at the Rye Patch Baptist Church with Reverends John Holbrook and Freddie Marshall officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
