Bobby Sikes, 72, passed away on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at Harborview Healthcare under the care of Hospice of South Georgia.
A native of Lyons and former resident of Townsend, Georgia and St. Augustine, Florida, Bobby was born on August 6, 1944 to the late Raymond and Louella Soperton Sikes. He was a carpenter by trade and had worked at Desco Boat Yard in St. Augustine building shrimp boats when he lived there and most recently was a foreman with R.B. Gay Company. He was an avid sports fan and volunteered countless hours coaching baseball, softball and football. Bobby also enjoyed hunting, fishing and mud racing but more than anything he loved spending time with his family. His love of life and laughter made Bobby easy to love and hard to forget. He spent his last few years traveling in his motor home between Panama City, Florida and Jesup visiting with family and living life to the fullest.
In addition to his parents, his brother, Eddie Arnold Sikes and his brother-in-law, James Mimbs and his beloved companion Beatrice Fore "Granny Bea" preceded him in death.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Erik and Jennifer Sikes of Panama City, Florida and daughter, Samantha Sikes of Screven; sisters, Betty Sikes Crosswhite and husband, Bob of Daleville, Alabama, Helen Sikes Mimbs of Vidalia, Carol Sikes Koutelas and husband, Johnny of Holiday, Florida; grandchildren, Phoenix Sikes, Tori Harless, Jordan Sikes, Kai Sikes and Aubree Sikes. Numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members also survive.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 10, 2017 at Howard & Jones Funeral Home with Reverend Stanley Todd officiating.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Hospice of South Georgia, 1625 Sunset Blvd., Jesup, GA 31545.
