Anthony Tucker Obituary
Anthony L. Tucker, 66, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at home.
Anthony was born on November 11, 1946 in Thomasville, GA to the late Henry Wallace Tucker and Bobbie Griffin Gates. He has lived the past forty-seven years in Wayne County. Anthony was a member of Anderson Drive Baptist Church where he had served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher. He worked for Ford Motor Company at several different locations including Sapp Ford in Baxley before retiring from Crossroads Ford in Jesup. Anthony was manager of Fairhaven Battered Women’s Shelter and also served on the board of directors for Hospice of South Georgia. He enjoyed cooking and was always known for his delicious Key Lime Cake and Macaroni and Cheese. Anthony loved children and had fostered children for over eight years. His own grandchildren were the light of his life and he loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of forty-seven years, Patricia "Pat" Tucker of Jesup; two daughters and sons-in-law, Lu Ann and Kevin Poppell of Odum and Amy and OJ Edwards of Mt. Pleasant; one brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Betty Tucker of Thomasville, GA; five grandchildren, Matthew Poppell, Maggie Poppell, Mallorie Poppell, Alexis Westberry and Austin Edwards; two great grandchildren, Kayden Grace Poppell and Emileigh Westberry and his beloved dog, Sassy. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, January 18, 2013 at Howard & Jones Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 19, 2013 at Anderson Drive Baptist Church with Reverend John Brown officiating.
Interment will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Cemetery.
Active Pallbearers will be Harvey Davis, Austin Edwards, Richard Collins, Dennie Waters, Brandon Westberry and Don Pye.
Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Adult Three Sunday School Class.
Remembrances may be made to the Anderson Drive Baptist Church, 260 Anderson Drive, Jesup, GA 31545.
