Ann McReady Obituary

Ann McReady, 71, passed away on Saturday, December 14, 2013 at St. Joseph’s Hospital after a long illness.

A native and lifelong resident of Wayne County, Ann was born on July 31, 1942 to the late Pat and Ruby Thompson. Family was her top priority, as a homemaker, wife and mother, she gave her family all the love they could ever need. Later in life, her grandchildren were her world and she stayed busy with yard work and gardening when she wasn’t tending to children. Ann also loved fishing, Coca Cola and Conway Twitty. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Bobbie Jean Linto; four brothers, Clyde Thompson, Ronald Thompson, Eckman Thompson and Leonard Thompson; brother-in-law, Wayne McReady and sister-in-law, Linda Gail Hughes.

Survivors include her husband of fifty-three years, Bennie McReady of Screven; two, daughters, Melinda McReady of Screven and Peggy McReady Ray of Glennville; a son, Michael McReady of Screven; two grandchildren, Crystal Ray and Ryleigh Dukes of Glennville; siblings, Aletha Todd, Vonnie Thompson, Lillian Harris and Jerry Thompson all of Jesup and Mark and Lorna Thompson of Meridian; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Carol Thompson of Odum, Shirley and Robert Sheffield of Screven, George and Nell McReady of Screven, Genell and Mann Allen of Jesup, Herman and Thelma McReady of Screven, Lamar and Linda McReady of Jesup and Leonard Hughes of Ludowici. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at Howard & Jones Funeral Home with Reverends Benji McReady and Donnie Mullis officiating. Active pallbearers will be Mike Rafferty, Eric Swilley, Charles McReady, Jamie McReady, Ralph Cox, Randy Pridgen, Mackey McReady, Ricky Sheffield, Robert Pridgen and Kevin McReady. Honorary pallbearers will be Twiman Vickers, Byron Patterson, Donnie Wheelis, Ronnie Mullis, Leonard Hughes and Gene McLain.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.

Interment will follow in the Thompson Cemetery.
