A resident of Jesup since 1954, Nat was born on June 10, 1937 to the late James Nathaniel and Lillie Bell Robinson in Rochelle, Georgia. He was employed by ITT Rayonier Inc. for thirty- six years where he retired as the first African American maintenance supervisor. Nat loved his community and volunteered in several different organizations. He was a mentor for Middle School children and had also been a Boy Scout Leader. Nat also volunteered his time at Wayne Memorial Hospital; however his greatest passion was his church. He was an elder at Unity Church of God where he sang in the choir and attended the United Voices Sunday School Class. He was also very active in the operation of the Food Pantry at Unity Church of God and was always willing to open his home to people traveling through in the ministry. In his spare time, he enjoyed creating welded metal art pieces, bowling, fishing, and was an avid golfer.
He is survived by his wife of fifty-seven years, Addie Robinson of Jesup; son, Mitchell Robinson of Atlanta; daughter, Sonya Robinson-Bell (Judson) of Atlanta; siblings, Rosa Brown of Atlanta, Dorothy Johnson and Tommy Hillmon both of Jesup, loving in-laws, Jerry and Betty Turner of Jesup, Rosa Turner of Jesup and Henry and Lillian Furr of Atlanta; grandchildren, Makayla, Michelle, Krishena, Jessica and Paige and great grandchildren, Haven, Jazilyn, Jayla, Jayclyn, Riley and Noah. His devoted God daughter, Kasandra “Katie” Herst and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends also survive.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 12, 2014 at Unity Church of God with Bishop George E. Moxley officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the church.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jason Young, Zachary Bailey, Romalice Melton, Danny Jones, Theophilus Boone, Dustin Moxley and Alex Stewart.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that remembrances be made to the Food Pantry at the Unity Church of God, 1580 Sunset Blvd. Jesup, GA 31545.
