She was born on September 29, 1917 in Barney, Georgia to the late Edwin and Rosa Mae Scruggs. After high school, Page received an Associates Degree from Middle Georgia College and later, a Bachelors and Specialists Degree from Georgia Southern College. A teacher by trade, Page worked forty-three years in the Wayne County School System where she worked as a teacher, school principal and elementary school instructional supervisor. She was an active member of Salem Primitive Baptist Church and loved to work crossword puzzles and watch the Atlanta Braves on television. In addition to her parents, her husband, Jones Ward Nichols, Sr. and her brothers John, James and Fisher Scruggs preceded her in death.
Survivors include her two sons, Jones Nichols of Statesboro, GA and Charles Nichols of Jesup; one sister and brother-in-law, Frank and Rose Marie Weyer of Ocala, FL; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at Howard & Jones Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at Salem Primitive Baptist Church with Reverend Thomas Waters officiating.
Active pallbearers will be Neil Nichols, Ned Nichols, Joe Collins, David Hodge, Nick Nichols and Dan Nichols.
Honorary pallbearers will be past and present members of Salem Primitive Baptist Church.
Interment will follow in Screven City Cemetery.
