Jimmy was born on August 20, 1954 in West Yarmouth, Massachusetts to the late Charles and Pauline Ginn. He spent his early years there before moving to Townsend in 1969 where he has lived ever since. He worked in the trucking industry as an owner/operator pulling containers out of the Savannah and Brunswick Ports for most of his career. Jimmy attended Townsend Church of God and enjoyed hunting and camping in his spare time. First and foremost, Jimmy was a family man and he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, his granddaughter, Eryana Jones, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife of thirty-eight years, Brenda Ginn of Townsend; two sons, James Ginn and wife, Kristine of Jacksonville, FL and Jimmy “Debo” Ginn of Townsend; one daughter, Erin Ginn of Townsend; three brothers, Charlie Ginn of Townsend; John Ginn and wife, Janice of Jesup and Billy Ginn and wife, Janell of Townsend and four grandchildren, Alex, Caleb and Haley Ginn and Anthony Jones. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members also survive.
Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 20, 2015 at Howard & Jones Funeral Home with Reverends Danny Stilwell, Jeremy DeLoach and Pastor Bobbie Adkins officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.
Interment will follow in Middleton Memorial Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be James Townsend, Beryl Sweat, Jay Hewitt, Shawn Brown, Larry Holland and Jason Ginn. Honorary pallbearers will be Jody Howard, Bobby Miller and Daniel Bumby.
